Tinderbox Performance Art Series at Mobius

Mobius (est. 1977) is a non-profit, artist-run organization in Cambridge, MA, whose mission is to generate, shape and test experimental art. Mobius is committed to structuring environments that foster projects incorporating a wide range of disciplines.  This approach sets in motion situations where the artist’s impact can be seen locally, nationally and internationally.

Participants submitted words that could be performed. B-U-G was randomly selected. The cue cards for each of the letters were drawn. These cards provide the synaesthetic experience of each letter in poetic form – and instructions for performing the gestures.

An Alphabet of Gestures

Choreography of Objects was a cross sesnsorial circus of delight in Berlin, Germany last March, 2012. We are excited about our new audiences who will participate in word forming gestures using over 28 everyday objects. These actionable objects are not spectacular by any means, but rather an absurd foray into the mind of a color grapheme synaesthete (yours truly).  As each performed letter amasses to words and even sentences, we can experience a socially dynamic constructing of language.
